The future ban on the sale relates to new fur products, including fur-trimmed leather goods, hats and shoes. Also, the manufacture and trade is prohibited in the city of Los Angeles. Second Hand shops may, however, continue to offer second-hand fur products. Animal welfare organisations have welcomed the new regulation.
Los Angeles is the largest US city that has decided such a ban. The metropolis is following the example of smaller cities in California such as San Francisco, Berkeley and West Hollywood.
